Hello, my name is Cheryl Thomas Hill, and I am one of the School Counselors at Bay Springs Middle School. I am a Carroll County native, and I attended Carrollton City and Carroll County Schools. After graduating from Mount Zion High School, I attended West Georgia Technical College and Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, AL. I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. I earned my BA in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice, MEd in School Home Services (School Social Work), certifications in School Counseling and Educational Leadership; and my EdS in Professional Counseling & Supervision from the University of West Georgia.
I have over 20 years of experience in Education. Most of my experience has been in Higher Education where I served as Director of Graduate Admissions and Coordinator of the African-American Male Initiative (AAMI) at the University of West Georgia. In an effort to flow in my purpose, I left higher education to pursue a position in the public school system. I was a substitute teacher with Carrollton City, Carroll County, and Douglas County School Systems. I also served as a Family Advocate with Community Action For Improvement, Inc. (CAFI Head Start) before acquiring a school counseling position with the FLEX Academy program in Douglas County.
I enjoy living a Christian lifestyle, trying new restaurants, traveling, spending time with family and friends; volunteering in my community; listening to music; watching movies, arts & crafts/painting.
I am grateful to be returning to Carroll County to serve in this role at Bay Springs Middle School. I am excited for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with you! We are VR!
